Job Summary:

This position is a position for a Master's level therapist that is responsible for providing assessments and counseling services in the FITT (Family Intensive Treatment Team) Program. The individual must have the competence to provide clinical assessments, individual, group, and family therapy. Position requires the therapist have knowledge of mental health and substance abuse diagnoses and treatment per the DSM-5.

Essential Duties/Requirements/Activities:

  • Provide direct clinical services, including individual, family, and group therapy.
  • Complete all daily progress notes, treatment planning and clinical assessments in a timely manner as mandated in Peace River Center's policies and procedures.
  • Provide psychoeducational groups which includes starting group sessions at scheduled time, ensure boundaries, following up with participants who miss group sessions and with referral sources, and complete all resulting documentation in a timely manner.
  • Provide in home therapeutic services with an interactive approach.
  • Assess the level of care needed to address substance use issues.
  • Assess for any Substance Use Disorder and provide an accurate diagnosis.
  • Work closely with other team members in developing and implementing a treatment plan.
  • Ensure coordination of services is occurring that is meeting the client needs.
  • Document therapeutic interventions in the client's record in a timely manner.
  • Ability to be a role model for staff and clients.
  • Recommend and or revise treatment interventions, and to monitor progress.
  • Coordinate appropriate discharge planning.

Qualifications:

Education:

Requires a Master's degree in the human services field (psychology, sociology, social work, counselor education, etc.), abide by a code of ethical and practice standards, and be committed to a process of lifetime knowledge and skills development.

Experience:

Have a minimum of two years of direct experience working with individuals with a substance use diagnosis. Experience working in an agency providing substance use services preferred.

Certifications:

CAP(Certified Addictions Professional) preferred

Training:

Complete all PRC required trainings

Knowledge and Skills:

Ability to work as part of a team.

Ability to make well-reasoned and ethical decisions regarding the assessment, care and treatment of individuals receiving services.

Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize conflicting demands.

Competence to provide clinical assessments, individual, group, and family therapy.

Possess or have the ability to quickly master computer skills.

Excellent documentation skills.

Knowledgeable of mental health and substance use diagnoses and treatment per the DSM-5.

Knowledgeable of co-occurring disorders and treatment.

Transportation:

Must have reliable transportation

Must meet Peace River Center's driving requirements with a minimum age of 25 to drive a PRC vehicle

Must carry and maintain $25,000/$50,000 bodily injury coverage on personal vehicle and provide proof of coverage

Must have a current FL driver's license and clean driving record

Work Environment:

The work environment is fast-paced and consists of exposure to physical conditions typical of a normal office environment. The populations cared for will include patients who are confused, delusional, irrational, agitated, or uncooperative. Most of the job is performed while sitting, although the work may require occasional standing or walking and/or the lifting and carrying of small objects. A small amount of travel may be required for meetings etc. to another PRC location.
