Job Summary:
This is a non-degreed position. The advocate is responsible for Primary Prevention activities as outlined in the DCF Office of Domestic Violence Contract. The Primary Prevention Advocate shall provide information, referral and counseling to survivors of domestic and sexual violence and the public. Provide presentations and training within the community and to co-workers. Facilitate support groups with required documentation attached. Act as a liaison with community partners including law enforcement and judicial system. Provide support to Victim Services Division for special projects such as community awareness/training; monitoring preparation and back up shelter coverage on as needed basis.
Primary Prevention Program Description:
The purpose of the primary prevention program is to deliver prevention education and awareness to the targeted youth population by delivering a series of educational classes in the class room as well as at community events while creating a coordinated community to respond to intimate partner violence in an effort to reduce, better respond to and eliminate it.

Essential Duties/Requirements/Activities:
- Meet all DCFDV/Primary Prevention contract deliverables.
- Attend Primary Prevention Orientation or other equivalent training as approved by the Department within 90 days of employment.
- Provide input in the formulation of the annual Primary Prevention Implementation Plan.
- Attend Community Action Team Meetings that include discussions, planning activities, or engagement of activities directly related to the community's primary prevention programming.
- Participate in quarterly learning calls coordinated by DCFDV and/or designated training and technical assistance provider.
- Complete online surveys distributed by DCFDV each fiscal year to assess increases in capacity to provide primary prevention services within 30 days of distribution.
- Offer programming series with youth, parents, and/or other community members consisting of at least six (6) sessions with the same cohort focused on social-emotional learning, safe, equitable and respectful relationships, bystander empowerment, parenting skills and family enrichment, and gender specific programs. Curriculum must be approved by DCFDV.
- Provide training for staff of community agencies on primary prevention and how it relates to their work.
- Coordinate and participate in at least one meeting each fiscal year with another entity that adds value to the work of Primary Prevention at a County level.
- Respond to and coordinate requests for community events and presentations as needed.
- Facilitate support groups at the Shelter and in the Community and complete the required documentation.

- Comply with reporting requirements designated by Peace River Center's contractual obligations with DCFDV.
- Be willing to drive personal vehicle on job related business. See detailed requirements below under transportation.

- Provide phone crisis counseling as trained, pertaining to sexual and domestic violence victim callers.
- Attend all scheduled work hours, meetings, trainings, and other grant and center functions, including on-call as required. While tasks/responsibilities require outreach/community work, this is not a remote work position. Office hours are required.
- Shift assignment will be flexible with occasional evening and weekend work required and occasional need to fill in on other shifts due to vacancies, illnesses and vacations.
- This position may be assigned additional "position duties" by a supervisor, other than those listed as is consistent with business necessity. On-going assigned duties will be added in the form of an addendum to this job description.
- Must meet the DCF state-mandated background and screening requirements.
- Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience:
- A minimum of one year working with individuals or families in crisis preferred. Domestic violence related preferred.
Training:
- 30 hours DCFDV Core Competency training (provided)
- 30 hours FCASV ACT training (provided)
- Other annual trainings as required by PRC, DCFDV & FCASV.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Bi-lingual preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office software package.
- Demonstrated teambuilding skills.
- Demonstrated planning skills.
- History of regular work attendance.
- Demonstrate the ability to lift 25 lbs.

Transportation:
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Will drive personal vehicle for job duties:
- Must be over 21 with a FL driver's license and clean driving record.
- Must carry & maintain $25,000/$50,000 bodily injury coverage on personal vehicle and provide proof of coverage annually.
- May drive a PRC vehicle

Supervisory Relationship(s)
- Reports to DV Services Outreach Manager. Meets with supervisor bi-weekly for individual supervision to discuss/manage program needs and evaluate any training needs or issues of professional staff or participants.
- Work Environment:
The work environment is fast-paced and consists of exposure to physical conditions typical of a normal office environment. The populations cared for will include patients who are confused, delusional, irrational, agitated, or uncooperative. Most of the job is performed while sitting, although the work may require occasional standing or walking and/or the lifting and carrying of small objects. A small amount of travel may be required for meetings etc. to another PRC location.
