Job Summary:

This position provides services to primary & secondary victims of sexual assault age 12 and above. Provides telephone (hotline crisis calls and office calls), hospital call-outs (support during a forensic exam, sharing of information and referrals, assist participants with filing for Victim Crime Compensation claims) accompaniment to court, and Law Enforcement interviews. Provides ongoing counseling helping victim's recover from their trauma. Facilitates and/or participates in providing support groups as well as attending community events to share information on awareness and prevention of sexual assault. Uses websites and local colleges to recruit for volunteers, provides training and supervision of volunteers. Facilitates monthly volunteer in-service meetings, and completes the minutes. Maintains volunteer files. Responsible for maintaining participant's records and inputting information into the computer data systems. The ability to be on-call two weeks per month. Any other duties assigned by the Supervisor for business necessity.

  • Provides information & referral services to primary, secondary victims and the general public.
  • Provides supportive counseling to sexual assault survivors & secondary victims.
  • Provides telephone, hospital, crisis and supportive counseling to participants.
  • Plans and facilitates support groups as necessary.
  • On-call two weeks each month.
  • Professional appearance & communication skills to interact effectively with staff and community partners.
  • Must be able to speak and make presentations to the Public.
  • Be willing to drive personal vehicle on job related business. See detailed requirements below under transportation.
  • Facilitates and/or participates in community awareness presentations/events to educate and to identify potential victims of crimes.
  • Maintain participants' records and inputting information into the computer data systems.
  • Must learn, understand and carry out all Victim Services Program Procedures.
  • Know, understand and respect participants' rights.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing safety planning with participants.
  • Inform participants of Crime Victim's Compensation Assistance and complete paperwork as applicable.
  • Attend all scheduled work hours, meetings, trainings, and other center functions, including on-call as required.
  • This position may be assigned additional "position duties" by a supervisor, other than those listed as is consistent with business necessity. On-going assigned duties will be added in the form of an addendum to this job description.

Qualifications:

  • Must meet the DCF state-mandated background and screening requirements.

Education:

  • A.A. Degree preferred. High school diploma/ G.E.D. Previous volunteer work or experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Experience:

  • At least two years working with sexual assault victims, women's issues and/or other mental health issues. Relevant degree may be substituted for experience.

Certifications:

  • None

Training:

  • 30 hours FCADV Core Competency training (provided)
  • 30 hours FCASV ACT training completed within 30 days of employment (provided).
  • New Hire Orientation and other annual trainings as required by PRC, FCADV & FCASV.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Transportation:

  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Will drive personal vehicle for job duties:
    • Must be over 21 with a FL driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Must carry & maintain $25,000/$50,000 bodily injury coverage on personal vehicle and provide proof of coverage annually.
  • If driving a PRC vehicle:
    • Must be 25 years of age with a FL driver's license and clean driving record.

Supervisory Relationship(s)

  • This position reports to the RRP Program Manager. Meets with supervisor bi-weekly for individual supervision to discuss/manage program needs and evaluate any training needs or issues of professional staff or participants.

  • Work Environment:

    The work environment is fast-paced and consists of exposure to physical conditions typical of a normal office environment. The populations cared for will include patients who are confused, delusional, irrational, agitated, or uncooperative. Most of the job is performed while sitting, although the work may require occasional standing or walking and/or the lifting and carrying of small objects. A small amount of travel may be required for meetings etc. to another PRC location.
