Job Summary:

To succeed as a Registrar, you must be professional, cordial, friendly, and calm in stressful situations. The responsibility of the PRN Registrar Float is to travel to various outpatient locations, covering shifts as directed and demonstrating flexibility. Registrar float will register patients, schedule appointments, verify insurance, enter demographic data, collect copayments, etc. Ensuring information is correct with prompt courtesy. The registrar will understand that numerous interruptions may be expected since the employees continuously interact with clients, 3rd party payers, and other staff.

  • Ability to - Reconcile daily charges and payments received and prepare daily bank deposits.
  • Answer phone calls and redirect calls to the appropriate individual.
  • Greet patients.
  • Record patient information.
  • Digitize patient information.
  • Collect patient payment information and check that it is valid.
  • Validate medical insurance coverage.
  • File patient records.
  • Answer incoming calls, interview patients over the telephone, complete data entry and scheduling process, and schedule new and existing appointments in CMHC. Update patient records, address, fee schedule, as necessary.
  • Greet the public in a receptive manner, servicing and assisting people entering the inpatient lobby.
  • Distribute forms for patients coming in voluntarily.
  • Complete financials with patients, including verifying and obtaining authorizations for insurance, financials, and data entry.
  • Ability to review, record, and report information relevant to authorizations.
  • Identify and ensure that the initial authorizations necessary for payment are obtained for client services.

Qualifications:

Education:

High School Diploma/GED required, some college preferred

Experience:

2 years of secretarial experience, preferably in a Medical Facility

Typing Minimum 45-50 wpm

Work Environment:

The work environment is fast-paced and consists of exposure to physical conditions typical of a normal office environment. The populations cared for will include patients who are confused, delusional, irrational, agitated, or uncooperative. Most of the job is performed while sitting, although the work may require occasional standing or walking and/or the lifting and carrying of small objects. A small amount of travel may be required for meetings etc. to another PRC location.
