Job Summary:

The CSU/SRT Inpatient Technician provides direct care to clients in the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) and Short-Term Residential Treatment Unit (SRT). The CSU/SRT Inpatient Technician functions as a member of an interdisciplinary team to provide a safe, therapeutic environment and support clients in the stabilization of crises and reintegration into the community. Anyone who meets the driving requirements will be required to drive.

Essential Duties/Requirements/Activities:

  • Provide supportive counseling for CSU clients and their families.
  • Provide daily scheduled therapeutic groups in accordance with the schedule.
  • Takes direction from the Lead Techs on daily programming and patient needs as assigned and or the Charge nurse as needed to support our clients.
  • Complete all paperwork as required by the policy on admissions.
  • Completes daily rounding through ObserveSMART.
  • Provides assistance and supervision to clients in activities of daily living.
  • Assist in a coordinated team approach in working clinically with CSU clients.
  • Assist with family meetings of assigned clients as needed.
  • Provide documentation and feedback based on observations and interactions with CSU clients on assigned clients.
  • Participate in treatment planning/discharge planning reviews of assigned CSU clients.
  • Concisely and correctly complete documentation and related paperwork in a timely and professional manner
  • Review Baker Act certificates that come to the CSU
  • Facilitate CSU clients' orientation to the Unit.
  • Provide the implementation of day treatment activities and therapeutic groups for clients.
  • Provide peer review and constructive feedback for other Team Technicians
  • Assist with reviews of seclusion/restraint implementation utilized with assigned clients and debriefing.
  • Coordinates with the clinical team regarding the care of CSU clients
  • Assist in providing a safe environment for staff and clients.
  • Assist with the discharge process for assigned CSU clients.
  • Assess and evaluate assigned clients' status and document accordingly.
  • Ability to arrive at work and be ready to work on time.

Qualifications:

Education:

Minimum of High School Diploma or GED

Experience:

Aminimum of 2 years' experience as a direct care worker preferred; a higher educational level can account for years of experience.

Certifications:

None

Training:

Complete all PRC-required pieces of training.

Complete all contact hours required for certification renewal (if applicable)

Attend all PRC clinical and administrative functions deemed appropriate by the supervisor.

Complete Aggression Control Technique (ACT) training

Knowledge and Skills:

Computer skills- Microsoft Office, CMHC, and Internet

Ability to work independently with little supervision.

Good organizational skills

Ability to respond appropriately in stressful situations while maintaining self-control

Demonstrate the ability to communicate appropriately and professionally in stressful situations with clients and/or peers.

Demonstrate the ability to prioritize workload and multi-tasking when needed.

Good verbal and written communication skills

Demonstrate effective verbal intervention, ACT, and seclusion/restraint procedures.

Safety Equipment

Universal Precautions

Comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.

Life Safety Equipment (fire extinguisher), oxygen cylinder, backboard, and basic life support equipment.

Transportation:

Must have reliable transportation.

Qualify to drive a PRC vehicle:

Anyone who meets the driving requirements will be required to drive our vehicle.

Must have a valid Florida driver's license and renew prior to expiration.

Must be at least 25+ years of age and have a clean driving record.

Machines, Tools, and Equipment Used:

Computer, multi-line telephone.

Oxygen cylinder and restraints.

Supervisory Relationship(s)

Reports to CSU Charge Nurse

Work Environment:

The work environment is fast-paced and consists of exposure to physical conditions typical of a normal office environment. The populations cared for will include patients who are confused, delusional, irrational, agitated, or uncooperative. Most of the job is performed while sitting, although the work may require occasional standing or walking and/or the lifting and carrying of small objects. A small amount of travel may be required for meetings etc. to another PRC location.
